It wasn’t particularly funny (or scary)。 It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great, either… idk maybe it’s bc I’ve been reading With A Dog & A Cat…, which has made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions, and bc it’s multivolume, enables me to feel like I can really bond with the cat and dog characters。 Maybe it’s bc I’m not a cat person (have never owned one; my dad was allergic and hated them so I took care of strays but we have small dogs now)。 IDK。 I can’t say I regret the purchase or read, but I wo It wasn’t particularly funny (or scary)。 It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great, either… idk maybe it’s bc I’ve been reading With A Dog & A Cat…, which has made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions, and bc it’s multivolume, enables me to feel like I can really bond with the cat and dog characters。 Maybe it’s bc I’m not a cat person (have never owned one; my dad was allergic and hated them so I took care of strays but we have small dogs now)。 IDK。 I can’t say I regret the purchase or read, but I wouldn’t particularly recommend it, either。 。。。more

I’ve been keeping an eye on some of Junji Ito’s work because of my love for horror fiction and art。 I started reading Shiver (I haven’t gotten around to finishing it yet due to some things), that’s why I did not expect for Yon and Mu to be the first Ito manga that I’d finish! This is a story that is definitely gold if you adore cats (or experienced living with one)。 Every chapter is equal parts funny, horrifying, and adorable。 I only wish that there were more chapters!

Ahh what an excellent manga!! This one had me laughing so hard。 This manga perfectly blends Junji Ito’s creepy art style and his humor! I almost gave up on Ito because I had a bit of a rollercoaster ride following his work: first book I read of his, I loved, then the next few kind of puttered towards less great in comparison to the first。 But after reading this, I have a renewed love for his work! A must read for cat lovers/owners and Junji Ito fans。

Ito-San really knows how to capture mannerisms and characteristics not only of his two cats but honestly, the species in general in “Cat Diary: Yon & Mu”。 What I love about these short stories is that he still keeps elements of horror but it’s comedic as well, going back to before he serialized mostly scary works。 I feel for him it must have been nice to return to his roots in making this。 The collector’s edition is great because it includes photos of his cats and various interviews/stories。 A m Ito-San really knows how to capture mannerisms and characteristics not only of his two cats but honestly, the species in general in “Cat Diary: Yon & Mu”。 What I love about these short stories is that he still keeps elements of horror but it’s comedic as well, going back to before he serialized mostly scary works。 I feel for him it must have been nice to return to his roots in making this。 The collector’s edition is great because it includes photos of his cats and various interviews/stories。 A must have for any Junji Ito fan。 。。。more

Un manga súper divertido si te gustan los gatos y Junji Ito, sin esperar nada de terror。

If you’ve ever seen video interviews of him, you’d know that Junji Ito is actually quite a normal dude。 This collection is a fantastic summation of that normalcy and a celebration of how you’ll love cats once you start to live with them。 Fair warning, I did cry a little bit。

I loved this。 This is a book all cat lovers should give a read。 Sweet and poignant, funny and a little horrifying, which is to be expected from Junji Ito。

Not what I expected? I thought this was going to be a horror story involving cats but its actually about the Junji Ito and his lovely wife living with their cats。。。。and only told the way Junji Ito could tell it with a little bit of disturbing humor。Illustrations were great with kind of an unusual slice of life。Fun read!

I did not think that the manga horror artist was also hilarious。 I was wrong。 Lol

Funny and well observed - the horror stylings lending surprisingly well to cat obsession。 Loved it!

A truly delightful tale, as told by one of the all-time masters of horror storytelling。 Junji Ito's Cat Diary is an autobiographical account of his own experience learning to become a cat person, all told in his signature creepy art style and featuring terrifying build-ups, with the payoff to each gag a sweet or funny moment, well-known to any pet owner。 The way Ito utilizes his skill in spinning tales of horror for this light-hearted comedy makes it such a delight。 A truly delightful tale, as told by one of the all-time masters of horror storytelling。 Junji Ito's Cat Diary is an autobiographical account of his own experience learning to become a cat person, all told in his signature creepy art style and featuring terrifying build-ups, with the payoff to each gag a sweet or funny moment, well-known to any pet owner。 The way Ito utilizes his skill in spinning tales of horror for this light-hearted comedy makes it such a delight。 。。。more

Truly hissterical。 These tales chronicling real-life trials and tribulations of being a cat owner - and Junji Ito's reluctance to become one are both charming, somewhat terrifying, and so true。 A wonderful, slice-of-life manga about what it is like to be a cat owner as seen through the eyes of the horror manga master, Junji Ito。 Cat lovers & horror fans rejoice。 Truly hissterical。 These tales chronicling real-life trials and tribulations of being a cat owner - and Junji Ito's reluctance to become one are both charming, somewhat terrifying, and so true。 A wonderful, slice-of-life manga about what it is like to be a cat owner as seen through the eyes of the horror manga master, Junji Ito。 Cat lovers & horror fans rejoice。 。。。more

From one of the Q&A sections: Q: You draw A-ko's eyes almost entirely without pupils。 What does your wife think of this? A: She got mad at me。 It seems that she doesn't like the haircut, either。 I've also been instructed to remove unnecessary lines from her cheeks in a number of panels。 Additionally, she pointed out that A-ko's trademark striped pants are nowhere to be found in her personal wardrobe。 Aside from these minor issues, my wife does not seem particularly displeased with this manga。B From one of the Q&A sections: Q: You draw A-ko's eyes almost entirely without pupils。 What does your wife think of this?
